Established in 1979 on Sydney's Newport Beach, Lucky's & Pep's quickly became a social hub for the local community, a cosy and inviting environment where families and friends gathered for a pizza and a chat.
In 1985, when Italian brothers Andrew and Angelo Auricchio acquired the business, the restaurant was brought up to a new level, now offering traditional homemade pasta and meat dishes, in addition to the already popular pizzas. The brothers, passionate about food, prepared each meal, each creation, with the utmost care, always vying for perfection and always receiving the reward of seeing a satisfied customer.
When the Baluch family purchased the pizzeria in 2000, Angelo stayed back to show all the ropes to Chef Will, personally teaching him all the recipes collected throughout these years. In addition, Andrew is still making the perfect pizzas that are so popular around the northern beaches. From the attention to detail in preparing the veal, to the tips and secrets when cooking the homemade gnocchi, that same passion has been kept close to the heart at Lucky's & Pep's.
With the ever increasing popularity and booked out nights, the Baluch siblings, Will, Jasmin and Junior, decided to move to bigger premises at the Newport hub. The new restaurant was inaugurated in June 2005, bringing a huge outdoor seating area, as well as an expanded kitchen, and now offering the capabilities to serve more of the food that they are ever so proud of.
Now, almost 30 years on, the managers at Lucky's & Pep's are honoured to be at the centre of a close-knit and welcoming community.
